Ulster University is the second largest university in Ireland and incorporates four campuses spread throughout Northern Ireland: Belfast, Coleraine, Jordanstown and Derry/L’ Derry. Ulster University attracts just under 27,000 full and part-time students as well as several thousand employees.

Since the introduction of paid parking in 2004, SKIDATA has enabled secure parking at all four campuses utilizing Ulster University’s Wide Area Network (WAN) to facilitate both centralized and localized monitoring and control.

In 2015, Ulster University issued a European-wide tender to procure a parking system that could offer a continuation of high performance and reliability as well as to take advantage of new technologies in internet connectivity, chip and pin, and online payments. After undergoing a rigorous technical tender process, SKIDATA once again was selected as the successful solution provider.

The SKIDATA solutions were installed to control a wide variety of mobility requirements including public transport, car-pooling, disabled drivers, university security and service vehicles using short-term ticketing, staff and student university cards, radio transmitters and IP intercom solutions.
